How a road layout trial works

An ETRO is a legal mechanism used to introduce trials to change the layout of a road for 18 months. It allows us to test the impacts of the changes on the area.

It can be used to introduce changes to parking, loading and the movement of certain vehicles such as general traffic.

As part of the trial, we will carry out a six-month public consultation when you can raise comments, objections or statements of support to the proposed experimental order. We will let you know when the consultation is online.

This information, alongside other monitoring data we will collect, will be considered by councillors at the TRO Sub-committee, where a decision will be made on making the changes permanent.
