Ken Buchanan who was born in Edinburgh has never, to my knowledge been officially recognised by the City of Edinburgh.
The latest person to receive the freedom of the city was Chris Hoy in 2012 and I feel Ken Buchanan is equally deserving of such an honour.
He managed to win the world lightweight championship in 1970 and is widely regarded within boxing circles as the best post war British fighter.
He never had the chance to fight in Edinburgh and I feel very strongly that we should acknowledge his achievements formally.
